Mission Monday-Twin Towers Orphan Fund

The Twin Towers Orphan Fund was founded on September 12, 2001 for the sole purpose of providing educational and welfare assistance to the children who were orphaned (who lost one or both parents) by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The mission of the Twin Towers Orphan Fund is to provide long-term higher educational assistance and mental and physical healthcare assistance for (a) children who lost parents in the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, or onboard the four downed airliners, and (b) children of victims of future terrorist attacks.

Honoring our nation's armed forces, America's Child provides educational assistance and physical and mental healthcare assistance for the children of our military heroes: the fallen men and women who proudly sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism and whose strength and courage has kept our nation safe.
About TTOF ~ Mission

The mission of the Twin Towers Orphan Fund is to help mitigate the damage caused by the terrorist acts of September 11 by ensuring the children of the victims have as normal a life as possible. To do so, the TTOF provides long-term higher educational assistance and helps meet mental and physical health care needs for children who lost a parent in the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, or onboard the four downed airliners.

If you know of a child who lost a parent on September 11, 2001, please register with Twin Towers Orphan Fund. This will help TTOF identify and qualify those children who are in most need of our help -- now and in the future.

What Has FaceBook Done For You?

Times have changed, technology has improved, and communication has come a very long way. When My Space first came out, I was not a big fan of the whole idea. I though it was rather self-centered and a waste of time. It appeared to be a lure for hackers and predators. I was turned off completely. After being separated from our family for several years and missing them, I found myself longing for updates and pictures on everyone. Phone calls are nice but not always feasible or conducive to a home full of screaming and crying children. Email is fine too, but still seems somewhat slow and still not as personal or community like. For the past several years I have been primarily a wife and stay at home mom. I have focused solely on raising my children, housework, wifely duties, cooking, etc. Then it happened. The pendulum shifted in the political arena and our government took a turn in a direction that jolted me. At first my father, of all people, had sent me an invitation to join FaceBook. Hesitantly I did. At first, I was not sure I wanted to. I was very particular about who I would let on my page. I still am and have my securities set high. Not just any Joe Blow can invite me to be a friend. I have to invite them. No one can see my pictures or my information. I don't post much about my children or their information. I do not post my address, etc. All that security stuff aside....I LOVE FACEBOOK! What has FaceBook done for you? Please share your comments and how FaceBook has helped you, changed your life, or been a support system for you.

Primarily, FaceBook got me back in touch with my family again. I absolutely love seeing the updated pictures of my brothers' families and sister's family, my parents, my cousins, etc. I have family in several states. It is not often that we get to see them. It is even less often that we are all together at one time. I have been able to reconnect with family members that I had rarely talked to. Even now, if we don't communicate daily or even weekly, just being able to see what is going on in their life is such a neat thing to me. This way, I feel like we are not so distant anymore. I feel so much more connected to everyone who is on there. We get to celebrate birthdays publicly, but privately, send them birthday wishes and other celebrations. There are times when things are not going so well. Maybe an illness might affect someone or a death, again, we can all communicate and support each other. I have been able to reconnect with friends that I went to school with and grew up with. This has been a true blessing indeed. We have a tight group of friends that I like to call our “prayer warriors”. Anytime any of us has a need we can call on each other and pray and fast through FaceBook. We have seen great miracles and answered pray from God through our prayer warriors and friends on FaceBook. Friends have been healed from cancer and other illnesses. Being able to check in on your family and friends when it is convenient for you is a great tool. Admittedly, it is not always convenient to make a phone call or a trip. To be able to look at everyone's status, updates, profiles and pictures when it is convenient for you is wonderful. You can communicate with family and friends when you are able to get on the computer or your phone, not get interrupted or stop family time, etc. FaceBook it is a great way to reconnect with family and friends and is extremely convenient.

FaceBook has also served as a great tool for spreading messages quickly or getting answers to urgent questions rapidly. During a family illness if there are any changes you can make one entry and notify a massive amount of people in a matter of seconds. This works for any type of communication, birthday wishes, updates on birth announcments, family changes, family emergencies, etc. Today in fact, we are experiencing bad weather and expecting severe weather to move in soon. We received word that the schools would be closing early. In a matter of minutes the message was out to parents and families that students were going to be released early and preparations needed to be made. Then, shortly after, messages were going out about church activities being canceled. I received a phone call from a friend's child's school that they could not reach her and the child needed to be picked up. I sent her a text message and then sent her a message on FaceBook. Within minutes the mother called me and was on her way to pick her daughter up. This is great stuff! One night I was in an arts and crafts store with my oldest daughter and we were searching for items for a biology project. We needed some help with it and all it took was one FaceBook status and within minutes we had a number of answers. I have some very intelligent friends on my page thankfully. I could give you story after story of how FaceBook has helped me communicate quickly with others or how it has touched my life.

Politically, FaceBook has helped me connect with other like-minded individuals as well as assist in campaign efforts and activist issues. It has been so nice to meet new people who share a very deep concern for our country as I do. To be able to share ideas, thoughts, and new information with people such as this has not only been inspirational but very supportive. Being able to put information about candidates out there in the social networks quickly to a massive audience cuts out a lot of wasted time, allowing your time and efforts to put into something more productive or more needed. The other aspect is being able to spread information and news releases and keeping people informed about the government process. It has been great to see how transparent and open some of the elected officials have become. It is always nice to hear from them and see how active and truly productive they are. Just knowing that our representatives are actually working and doing what they are supposed to be doing is settling. Just a few of the ones that come to mind are Sen. Eric Johnson (running for GA Gov), Cong. Jack Kingston, Rep. Burke Day, Rep. Ann Purcell, Cong. Lynn Westmoreland and President Pro Tempore Tommie Williams just to name a very few. These elected officials will often give updates and reports as to what is going on with legislation and votes as well as general political news. It is great to have a heads up and hear it directly from the mouth of the messenger.

So, I ask you, what has FaceBook done for you? Have you been blessed by reconnecting with family and friends? Have you been touched or healed by prayer from others? Have you been enlightened politically? Have you found a new interest or hobby through FaceBook? Please share your experiences and thoughts. I look forward to hearing from you! May God bless you and may God bless America and the troops fighting to defend her!

A Message From Dawn Forbes-Attended Glenn Beck Conference at the Villages

First of all, I'd like to say that we had a great meeting with the Camden Libertarians this morning. I am thankful for the opporunity to spread our message and gather more recruits into this fight.

After the meeting, I had the pleasure of going down to The Villages, FL to attend the Glenn Beck rally down there where he unveiled his next plan. He has decided to hold Conventions that will teach the history and the Constitution and all about Community Organizing - because as he said "Two can play at that game."

They have divided the country into 7 sections, and the first Convention will be held in March in Orlando. He said that we'll get up early and we'll go to bed late, but we will learn an awful lot. I will be uploading his speech from today just as soon as possible. We will be working on getting a block of rooms and bus transportation, and I'll update you as that comes together.

After these conventions, he is holding a rally in DC on Aug 28th. I know that will be very close to the March on DC, so I hope that you will start planning ahead as to whether you will want to go to both events and start setting aside the funds.

This was a great day, and I think the perfect next step. We need to be educated and ready to help others as they begin to wake up to the madness that is taking place in our government.

Thank you all for the hard work you put in every day!

Lord Monckton, Tim Phillips and Phil Kerpen Live from Copenhagen Conference

In 9 days President Barack Obama will go to Copenhagen, Denmark for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. No doubt, the President intends to commit the United States to an energy rationing scheme that makes the U.S. accountable to U.N. bureaucrats, kills jobs here, dramatically raises the price of gasoline and electricity, and infringes on our personal and national freedoms -- all in the name of a radical global warming ideology that is called into question more and more each day.

As part of our ongoing "Cost of Hot Air" effort, Americans for Prosperity is going to Copenhagen on the same day as the President to make sure that our side of the story is told.

On December 9, AFP will hold a live event from Copenhagen that will broadcast simultaneously at local AFP events across the nation and live at http://www.americanforprosperity.org/.

We'll detail the hypocrisy of the U.N. Climate Change Conference and give you the opportunity to send your elected officials a crystal clear message: don't you dare use this U.N. Conference to turn over our nation's energy policy to some international body that could care less about American prosperity.

Phil Kerpen and I will be in Copenhagen hosting an event with Lord Monckton (click here to join the 3.5 million people who have seen his video detailing how our nation could be threatened by international climate agreements) and other European free-market leaders who will detail the hypocrisy of this U.N. conference and explain how cap-and-trade has killed jobs and raised energy prices in their nations.

The anchor event in the United States will be held in Philadelphia at noon that day with AFP's own Steven Lonegan hosting and special guest speaker Steve Moore (FOX News contributor and Wall Street Journal editorial board writer). We'll have more details about these events -- and how you can attend -- within the next few days.

I'm asking you to take 3 steps.

First, let us know you will consider attending one of the FREE "Cost of Hot Air" events near you on December 9, where we'll have the Copenhagen event running live along with local speakers. CLICK HERE

Second, if you cannot attend one of the events, view it live at our AmericansforProsperity.org website or better yet, hold your own get-together for family and friends. CLICK HERE to do this.

Third, please consider sending this email invitation on to your family and friends by CLICKING here. We need to make sure the politicians in Washington know that Americans are closely watching the cap-and-trade issue and that the U.N. Conference in Copenhagen changes absolutely nothing.

You've no doubt seen the ClimateGate email scandal that's exploded since a whistle blower in the United Kingdom exposed emails and files showing just how unethical and outrageous the behavior of global warming ideologues has been. They've tried to censor scientists who disagree with them on global warming. They've tried to suppress -and conveniently lost track of -data that contradicts their ideology. They've personally vilified opponents instead of engaging them on the actual issues. All this sounds pretty familiar, doesn't it? But this time, it's being done by scientists instead of politicians.

We're going to be in Copenhagen on December 9 with President Obama -- telling the real story and making sure our Senators see American citizens taking a stand against outsourcing U.S. energy policy to an international body.

But, to accomplish this goal we need your help. And, as always, there’s a high cost associated with this kind of activism. Click here to invest in this battle today. Thank you for all you do.

Tim
PS: Our "Cost of Hot Air" events across the United States on December 9 are our last opportunity in 2009 to send the politicians a message on cap-and-trade -- on the very day that President Obama will be in Copenhagen at the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Get involved and let's make sure they know that the choice for them is clear: side with Americans determined to keep our nation in charge of our own energy policy and economy OR side with U.N. bureaucrats and the extreme Left, which wants to use this conference to get the United States to agree to binding energy rationing limits that will kill jobs, raise gasoline and utility prices and take away many of our freedoms.
