Ensuring Pay for our Military ACT 2011 During Govt Shutdown
Thank you Rep. Kingston, Rep. Gohmert, and Rep. King. This is a crucial bill that expresses much appreciation and gratitude from these who have sponsored it. Please express your appreciation to them by contacting their office today.
This bill should pass! The military should never lack pay! There should never be a question about it. If there is any questions to be asked it is Why are our service men and women not getting paid more with more benifits? Why is it not law for serive men and women not get at least a 10% discount on everything they buy in America? Find cuts else where!! Leave our military alone. They should be taken better care of! They take care of you, you need to take better care of them!!
Of course our Military should still get paid. How can they expect our Soldiers to be fighting in other countries while not getting paid, not to mention having to worry about their families here at home. It's a load of crap. As the wife of a Soldier, I'd like to know how we're supposed to pay our bills and take care of our families without pay. If they want to cut funding, especially Military funding then they should stop paying Officers for a while. Some Officers make 13000 base pay a month plus another 6000 for housing while lower enlisted make 1200 to 2500 base pay and 1100 for housing. Most officers don't have young children either, it's the lower enlisted who have young children and yet they barely make enough and sometimes don't make enough to care for them. And let's not get into the sub-substandard medical care Soldiers and their families receive. Think of all the money the government could save if they stopped paying the officers for a while, not to mention the senate, the representatives and the president. Why should he get paid when he's the one who got us into this mess?
Many wives do have jobs, but would you like to pay for the childcare when the other wives do get a job. Many of us wives find it more important to be there for our children and provide some stability while daddy deploys over and over again. The cost of childcare often creates a wash where the wife is merely going to work simply to pay for childcare. No thanks. I'd rather raise our kids and not leave that to someone else.
To the person who said that the wives get a job, maybe you should be a stay at home mom and have your husband go off to another country and defend our way of life, while leaving his family at home. The wives have a full time job just taking care of all the house hold, children, bills, and making sure that everything stays in order while he is gone. The men who go over seas have a heavy job, but the wives have one that is almot heavier, so until you have walked in their shoes, dont talk down on them, the wives of our countries heros are the unsung heros that never get credit. I myself am not a wife, but I live in a navy town and grew up as an army brat, and the wives go through hell trying to stay in one piece.
I have to agree... There should be no question that the military should get paid... As an army wife it is hard just to take care of the household while your soldier is gone. I am currently 6 months pregnant and it is hard... It's our first child, if he wasn't here it would be 10 times harder taking care of everything myself.
